cow patty cobbler
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 cup milk
1 cup nuts chopped (pecans or walnuts)

Mix in separate container:

2 cups brown sugar
8 tablespoons cocoa

Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly using a fork. Stir in
the cup of milk to make a smooth paste. Line the dutch
oven with foil and pour the paste into the oven,
smoothing over the entire bottom of the oven. Next,
sprinkle the brown sugar-cocoa mixture over the
surface of the paste. Heat three and one-half (3 1/2) cups
water to near boiling and pour on top of entire batter in
the oven. Bake at 350* for 45 minutes with coals on top
and bottom of the oven. When done, this is a pudding
cake with the cake on top and the pudding on the
bottom.

Note: This may be modified for the trail by using
powdered milk in the first set of ingredients and
packaging in two plastic bags. On the trail, you can do
the mixing in the plastic bags.
